The difference between men’s and women’s hair

You may think that hair problems occur the same to every person; man or woman, but this is totally false. Hair problems among the two genders have popularly been segregated since technology has been working its way upwards. With so much of modern technology and products to fulfill the satisfaction for one’s hair, professionals have come up with a lot of methods and products to suit a variety of hair needs. But there is a catch to this; the different methods or products that need to be used for either a man or a woman. There are huge differences in hair between these opposite sexes. For example, in terms of hair growth, men have a slightly greater growth rate than men which is 0.349mm/day for men and 0.339mm/day for women respectively. There are differences in hair loss as well. Female pattern hair loss starts in their late 40s to 50s while men can already start losing their hair 10 to 20 years earlier than them. The reasons for men and women hair loss are also very different. Usually, men lose their hair due to stress, hereditary traits and also lack of rest or sleep. Women lose their hair due to reasons like post-natal issues, diet and stress as well. Men are more prone to hair balding because of their genetics and the stress that is put upon them career-wise and so forth. The similarities for male and female pattern of balding are a result of a combination of aging, hormones and genetics.  Although men’s hair is thicker than women’s hair, men tend to lose more hair than their female counterparts because of the testosterone level that they have too. Men have a higher rate of testosterone in their bodies and this also contributes to more sebum secretion in the hair glands and hence, hair loss. Dandruff affects more middle-aged men rather than women. The possible factors for this are because of the level of hormones, larger oil glands in men that create scalp problems together with dandruff. Generally, men and women of today’s modernity should be able to differentiate their hair apart from everyone because everybody has different types of hair conditions. With the conscience and the knowing of the reasons of their own hair problems, the seeking of products and treatments will be easier and their problems may lessen in a shorter period of time.
